One man, or more appropriately, one book that was of immense help in getting “quotable quotes” and mugging them and keeping them ready for the essays and general explain with context kind-of questions from std. IX to XII – was Ralph Waldo Emersons’ Essays:First Series! The above 7 quotes as ‘success lessons’ seen in a post from dumblittleman.com, and tweeted by@GuyKawasaki reminded me immediately of the first ever line I’ve read, and the dread that followed — and using internet I’ve re-lived it all over again

There is one mind common to all individual men. Every man is an inlet to the same and to all of the same. He that is once admitted to the right of reason is made a freeman of the whole estate.
– Ralph Waldo Emerson, on “History” from Essays:First Series

Yes, thankfully that time it did not deter me from still leafing through the hefty tome in search of somethings that are not run of the mill…after all there were very few quotes to be picked from Enid Blyton, Sherlock Holmes and some smart people have even tried Nancy Drew! There was no internet back then, and Times of India’s weekly “Sporting Encounters” was by far the most interesting and understandable English snippets available to teenage humankind, but not entirely quotable in the answers for the language exams. Helplessness sometimes drives you to the gems in life you can cherish forever…

Much later, some of these thoughts started making sense, but frankly, most are yet to find a connect with the hustle, bustle, and the daily grind. That is why its good to find dumbed down one liners to understand in clarity- the wisdom that’s been passed on since eternity. After all every man is an inlet to the same and to all of the same- but then Google index keeps tabs on all the same and ensures you can have flights back in time! in an *instant may be!
